Summary/Abstract: The basic model of hypothetico-deductive confirmation, sometimes called „naive“ hypothetico-deductivism, is faced with insurmountable, one might even say fatal, problems. Some attempts have been made to resolve these problems by applying different modifications to the basic model. These attempts, however, almost always come at the cost of a considerable increase of its complexity and drastic decrease of its practical applicability. What I propose as a solution to the insurmountable problems of the „naive“ version of hypothetico-deductivism is the general abandonment of this model in favour of Bayesian confirmation theories. The latter rely on probabilistic models that are far better equipped to deal with the task at hand.
