Summary/Abstract: Together with the idea of art as an ontological value, the idea of an artist as half-god (or Devil) springs to existence. It is a specific myth created within czech culture at the beginning of the 20th century and further developed as a figure of a dandy or a bohemian, antithetic variations of the idea of the artist as an exceptional person, isolated from the society and concentrated on his inner self.
