Summary/Abstract: The report deals with the history and progress of literary mystification since the Enlightenment until the presence. It´s based on important foreign essays (Julia Abramson, K. K. Ruthven etc.) and on authoresses own research. The forms of mystification in particular historical epochs, their gradual changes from the social game into the textual form, changes of the authors´ strategies, growing engagement of mystifying game and its analytic and critical nature are discussed. Authoress points out the presence of hidden philosophical project in the background of important mystifications and impeaches the possibility of strictly structuralistic interpretation of mystifying texts by referring to their embedment in a wide cultural context which is a condition for adequacy of their reception. She supposes that the mystification as an extreme form of the fiction can help us with understanding the literature itself.
