Summary/Abstract: The September 11 attacks on the U.S. thus provided new opportunities and challenges for Turkey. The Middle East emerged as a region that could possibly be dramatically affected by September 11 attacks in the U.S. and the developments following it. The link to the Middle East was obvious in the manner the events were perceived and defined by the actors of this "new war".
