Summary/Abstract: The fact that BiH has not defined and agreed on the strategy for its long-term development is causing a lot of problems, not only in relation to economic basis but also to social advancement. These problems especially show in the area of higher education. Many problems burdening higher education in ex-Yugoslavia have been transferred to the existing higher education system. Most of students are enrolling faculties for different teaching professions, economy and law and only a small number is studying technical and natural sciences. A big number of students enrolling faculties of social orientation is a reason that the most of students who graduate from these faculties are waiting for employment. Detrimentally for technical and natural sciences, the state is giving a great deal of financial means for educating of profiles that are hardly to be employed not only in our country but also in the world.
