Summary/Abstract: The problem of uprooting is clearly presentin poems by Jan Polkowski. The author presents a society expropriated from places of their belonging. People have lost the places which support the bonds of community and help to protect and develop both, their individual as well as collective identity. These bad places are where the history operates. The poet reinterprets the places in order to expose the evil of ideology.
