Summary/Abstract: The paper is an attempt to apply Niklas Luhmann's systems theory to the analysis of the totalitarian society. The study aims at defining its main distinctive formative features and principles. The analysis of the totalitarian interaction system is suggested as the starting point of this endeavor. The differentiation of two types of interaction - democratic and totalitarian - is based on their different means of organization of social time and space and on their particular attitudes toward the personality.
