Summary/Abstract: Following the development of the sociology of illness and observed changes in relation to used theoretical frameworks and paradigms, special attention has been paid to cancer due to psychosocial consequences of cancer diagnostics, medical treatment and “living with cancer”. Based on empirical experiences coming from performed sociomedical studies, the role of illness behaviors in cancer patients and subjective assessment of health-related quality of life by survivals have been presented in the increasing “society of remission”.
