Summary/Abstract: This presentation is an attempt to look at the history of ralationships between the Bishop of Cracow, Cardinal Albin Dunajewski (1817–1894) and the Servant of God, Father Bernard Łubieński CSsR (1846–1933). Bishop Dunajewski was a very important figure in the political and religious life of Cracow and the Austrian partion of Poland, i.e. Galicia. His contemporaries called him as „primus inter pares” in the polish Catholic Hierarchy. Communities of consecrated life played an important role in his plans of the renewal of the Cracov Diocese. Father Łubieński, the truth aristocrat-in-a-religious-habit, supported the initiative of bringing the Redemptorists to the Polish lands, to the former Dominican monastery in Mościska. In the spring of 1883 Bishop Dunajewski greatly helped Father Łubieński in the first months after the return of the Redemptorists to Poland, offering him accommodation in his own palace. Until his death the Bishop and the Religious were in close relationships. Special sign of these brotherly relationships between the Cardinal Dunajewski and the Polish Redemptorists was also his genuine devotion to the Icon of the Mother of Perpetual Help.
