Summary/Abstract: This article presents modern conflict archaeology, revealing its features as well as theoretical and methodical definitions. The archaeological investigation of Lithuanian partisan war sites (1992–2013) and their results are examined and the separate research directions are distinguished and surveyed. The authors pay special attention to the 2010 investigation of the Daugėliškiai Forest (Raseiniai District) headquarters of L. Grigonis-Užpalis, Deputy Chairman of the Presidium of the Council of the Union of Lithuanian Freedom Fighters. The results of the investigation of this partisan bunker reveal the role of archaeology in the investigation partisan war sites and help to define the boundaries between archaeological science and method in modern conflict archaeology.
