Summary/Abstract: James Beniger’s monograph titled ’The Control Revolution’ is a standard work on information society showing the key moments in the formation of information society and providing the scientific discourse with valuable material concerning the notion of the control revolution. The work has a special value as it provides an important ‘drill-ground’ for the social science of information. In their evaluative analysis the authors try to introduce the main contexture of the work and to evaluate it taking the aspects of social theory and the science of history into consideration.
