Refugees – A New Global Movement

Summary/Abstract: This study points to the contradictions between international regulations and practical implementation of the international law. Due to the increase in the number of factors that contribute mass displacements of the population, the problem of refugees continues to concern scholars. Concept of the refugee is discussed and two approaches to the research of this topic are presented: geopolitical and social. This article explores the importance of quality of social development, reduction of poverty, decrease of inequalities, struggle against social exclusion, and greater emphasis on a balanced regional development and social vitality.
