Summary/Abstract: The baroque style largely spread in the cultural-artistic environment of the XVIIIth century in Transilvania. Its formal features could be formal in a great number of representations. A frequent theme in iconography, the religious figurative sculpture in Alba district in the baroque age is connected to the cult of the saints’ protectors. Nine statues of the Saint Ioan Nepomuc, the object of my study, were detected in Alba Iulia, Bărăbanţ, Benic, Zlatna, Abrud and Roşia Montană. The frequency of these statues in the area could be connected to the existence of some groups of believers who worshipped that saint (farmers, miners, boat men etc.) and the existence in Alba Iulia, in the first half of the XVIIIth century, of an important archaeology site with foreign sculptors brought by the Austrian military authorities in order to build the bastion city in still capital of Transilvania.
