Summary/Abstract: The aim of the study is publishing new documents relating to Márton Áron’s Process of Appointment to be Catholic Bishop of Transylvania from the National Archives of Hungray and the Archives of the Catholic Archiepiscopate of Transylvania. Márton Áron is a well known and famous leader of the Hungarian Catholic Church in Transylvania as well he was the Bishop of Transylvania since 1938 till his death in 1980. At first in 1938 he was appointed as the apostolic governor of Episcopate of Transylvania and some months later he was nominated to be Bishop of Transylvania by the Holy See. His ceremonial ordainate to Bishop’s See set in February 1939. The main historical problem around his nomination is the diplomatical fight between the Hungarian and the Romanian government to appoint a priest to Bishop’s See of Hungarian or Romanian origin. Trying to influence the process of nomination int he Vatican, both of the government was intend to get the national leadership int he Catholic Church in Transylvania.
