Summary/Abstract: To determine the socialization possibilities of physically disabled people, their psychosocial health was analysed in the aspects of their personal attitude towards their disability, psychic health, satisfaction with the quality of life, self-esteem; 376 physically disabled people (224 sport participants and 152 non-participants) took part in the questionnaires and testing. Disabled sport participants were divided into two groups: those having a disability for less than 3 years (48 persons) and those having a disability for longer than 3 years. The age of the participants ranged from 18 to 52 years. The disability of all the recipients was acquired (cerebral palsy, spinal cord injury, limb amputation). The disabled sport paticipants were found to have good socialization possibilties: their approach to disability becomes more positive, most of the factors do not cause any psychological discomfort. Most of their self-esteem indicators (self-confidence, selfconsciousness, self-awareness) were higher than of disabled non-participants. On the whole, disabled sport participants were more satisfied with their quality of life. The socialization possibilities of disabled sport participants in the aspects of psychosocial health highly depend on the history of disability: disabled persons with a disability history of longer than 3 years showed a higher satisfaction with their quality of life, a more positive attitude towards their disability and a stronger self-esteem in comparison to those with a disability history shorter than 3 years.
