Summary/Abstract: This article deals with the concept of subjective well-being (SWB), which should be understood as an overall subjective evaluation of all the conditions of life, made by the members of society. The article presents the content and history of the SWB concept, discusses the major related theories and introduces a practical analysis of the standard of living in the EU, based on the SWB indicators.
