Summary/Abstract: The article is about using a new method, the conceptual map, for enriching the teaching and learning process. The concept map is a notion defined as concepts and links between them, and it was used by a large number of researchers for teaching and learning. In the first section of the article it will be accomplished a conceptual delimitation of the term conceptual map, taking into consideration its use by researchers with different epistemological background. In the second part of the article there will be presented the advantages of using the conceptual maps for improving the learning and teaching process: scaffolding the understanding of students, teaching critical thinking and advanced organizer.
