Summary/Abstract: This article focuses on the detailed analysis of the senatorial elections on micro-level in four constituencies (Strakonice, Pelhřimov, Žďár nad Sázavou and Znojmo) in the framework of three regular election terms in the years 1996, 2002 and 2008. Selected constituencies are not typical due to the weak position of the \ODS, which traditionally was the strongest party in the Senate. The initial part of the article briefly deals with majority two-round electoral system used for the Senate election. The second part focuses on the micro-analysis of twelve delimited senatorial elections. In the framework of each constituency, the analysis takes into account internal socio-economic and political circumstances, monitors characteristic features of individual candidates and distributes electorate among three categories of municipalities according to their size. The analysis examines the causes of failure of the ODS.
