Summary/Abstract: Who is Adaś Miauczyński? Kempna studies Charles Taylor’s works to find the answer to the question relating to the identity of the central character of Koterski’s films. Philosopher Charles Taylor’s key concept of “constructing the sense-making horizon” with reference to Koterski’s films constitutes a synonym of the filmmaker’s development of an original auteur strategy. Citing the seven features of the (auto)biography of Miauczyński, Kempna identifies the most important steps leading to the crystallisation of the horizon (defining “self” and a system of values, developing an original language, accepting the importance of dialogue, etc.). From this perspective, Koterski’s filmmaking appears to be a treaty – that is evolving in time – about the post(modern) condition of man, in which being a “filmic author” and the author of one’s own life are continuously complementing each other.
