Summary/Abstract: This article attempts to shed light on the conflict prevention in the Crimean Peninsula. After their deportation, the Crimean Tatars have begun to repatriate in their homeland, Crimea after the collapse of Soviet Union. There is a possibility of a violent conflict in the peninsula. The article will examine the need of early warning, preventive diplomacy and pre-conflict prevention. Also, the Crimean Tatars question will be explained in terms of conflict cycle, entrapment and escalation. The model of preventive action and conflict prevention cycle will be applied to the Crimean Tatars case. It explains the role of non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and international organizations (IOs) in preventive diplomacy in general and the Crimean Tatars case in particular. In conclusion, the conflict resolution can be achieved with conflict prevention, grassroots dialogues, and problems solving workshops (PSWs) and peace camps as well as comprehensive economic, political, democratic and social reforms in Ukraine in general and in Crimea in particular.
