Summary/Abstract: Abstract: The Fall of the Folding Screen and the Appearance of the „Third Genre” The so called „pure unity” of genres within puppetry is fragmented during the second half of the 20th century as a result of onstage experiments. The necessity for the folding screen was questioned. The body of the living actor enters the puppet theater and it breaks the genre’s unity while also questioning the dominance of the plastic arts in puppetry. The partial or total neglecting of the folding screen became the issue of many debates and it is an important question up to this day.
