Summary/Abstract: The article deals with difficulties with verbalizing stimuli that are received and sent by a human being through the sense of touch. The analytical material was limited to verbs, the meaning of which refers tp cognition by through the sense of touch, particularly hand movement. The difficulty with naming direct stimuli received by touching was caught on the basis of the analysis of the linguistic material that showed that semantic differences between words are visible among others within pragmatics. A characteristic of selected lexemes was made on the basis of lexicographic works available and takes into consideration information within etymology, semantic development and modern word usage. In view of the subjectivity of feelings evoked by touch, the opposition in the title was treated as a real opposition, without contradiction.
