Summary/Abstract: Action research is defined as an activity or a set of activities, an action, a method, a strategy, or a scientific paradigm. Action research is a specific process of combining different methods of working to raise awareness, promote intergroup and intergenerational interaction, and motivate people to work to change, both as indi-viduals and as communities. The main characteristic of action research is its focus on solving specific problems that practicing teachers face in educational practice. Unlike in the traditional research approach, where theory precedes practice in the normative form, in action research theory is an inseparable part of the practice. The problem of the relationship between theory and practice in action research lies in the fact that some of the teachers are not aware of their theoretical background and beliefs behind the practice. Many shortcomings in the improvement of the educational process are the result of underdeveloped methodological training of teachers, in addition to other adverse factors and conditions. General bases of methodological teacher training should be developed as soon as teacher training begins and should be further enriched and nurtured within the immediate educational practice and different forms of (insti-tutional and individual) professional and pedagogical teacher specialization.
