Summary/Abstract: The objective of the presented article is to discuss the essence of target date funds, however, most of all it is to indicate the diversity of funds with the same target date. According to the set objectives the first part of the article presents the general characteristics of target date funds, considering the differences occurring between these and other funds listed among the lifecycle funds. The second part presents the comparative analysis results of the planned and real glide paths in terms of target date funds 2055. Owing to the short history of domestic target date funds, the performed analysis focused on target date funds 2055 functioning on the American market in 2013 and offering A type units.
