Summary/Abstract: Bohumil Fořt interviews here one of the world’s leading narratologist, David Herman. The interview comprises three parts: narratology in general, as Herman conveys his view of this branch of literary studies; narratological projects that Herman has taken part in or led, namely, ‘Frontiers of Narrative’, ‘Project Narrative’, and the Routledge Encyclopedia of Narrative Theory (2005); and, lastly, a discussion of Herman himself, in which he describes how he first encountered narratology, why he considers it important, and his thoughts on Czech narratology.
