Summary/Abstract: The article is dedicated to the victims of totalitarism and to all those people who strive not to let anything fall into oblivion. There are many images from a journey to the concentration camp of Mauthausen and they are all connected to memories. The visits to the Hartheim castle and the Austrian fortress of Alkoven are also recollected. The poem The Limit by Eric Fried is significant for the memories triggered by the journey. The horror, as the poem suggests, has no limit when we speak about the worst that could happen. Finally, the author realizes that the pain is not in the landscape but it is strongly anchored in the soul, while it survives in the memory of those completing the journey.
