Summary/Abstract: Quality of life is a very important concept in evaluating patients. Evaluation in modern medicine cannot be limited to the strict medical effects of therapy or disease progression, but must take into account a set of conditions that affect the welfare of the patient. All these are found in the complex evaluation of quality of life. Ethical principles underline all decisions taken by medical staff in patient care. Ethical behavior is closely linked to a patient's quality of life, because it is the guarantor of the rights of the patient. The staff from Arad Hematology Clinic (Romania) conducted a study on the importance of quality of life and the factors that determine quality of life in oncohematological patients, using two groups of patients (a lot of patients with oncohematological diseases and a lot of patients with benign hematological disorders). The results showed that each domain queried by questionnaire is relevant in determining quality of life. It also showed how patient condition influences the appreciation of different aspects of life, raised by the questionnaire.
