Summary/Abstract: This interview attempts to capture the meaning given by survivors to the suffering they underwent in the extermination camp of Auschwitz-Birkenau as victims of the Nazi crime against humanity and the human nature. Besides relating his own experience, Oliver Lustig also gives a theoretical assessment of the Nazi ideology which underlines the racially based Nazi purpose of the crime. Moreover, his analysis of camp psychology is a relevant contribution to Holocaust studies though the new insights it brings on the matter.
