Wordformation and Distributed Morphology Theory

Summary/Abstract: This paper concerns basic features of Distributed Morphology Theory. These features are also compared to the features of other and earlier morphological theories developed in framework of generative grammar. The main interest of the paper are the questions of word formation in Distributed Morphology. Two approaches to word formation are presented: Marantz's two places of word formation in syntax (Marantz 2001) and functional structure in nominals of Alexiadou (2001). There is also an attempt to discuss Croatian deverbal nouns according to these wordformation approaches.
