Summary/Abstract: In this text we analyzed and compared some characteristics of borrowing in the Croatian language in two separate periods. As a base for corpuses, we used daily newspapers published between 1970-1975 and between 2000-2004. Corpuses are made up of loans and translation loans. In the text, corpuses are analyzed and compared in consideration of the origin of loans and translation loans.
