Summary/Abstract: A representative of the French Enlightenment, Denis Diderot opens a new page in the philosophical thought that will be present in the ideas of the Romanticism and Hegelian philosophy referring to alienation. Rameau’s nephew is a split personality of the writer, by which he can criticize enthusiastically the state of the society he lives in, replacing dialogue with pantomime, when necessary. The dialogue presents a stage play, offered to the Conscience, that trains the spectator to recognize his own possible mediocrity due to inner enlightenment.
