Introduction

Summary/Abstract: Contemporary culture constitutes a diverse mosaic, which - as we know - poses a number of problems that defy easy categorisation and cookie-cutter schematism. For that reason, a significant number of research initiatives focus on the previously charted territory, on the academically cordoned-off analytical spectrum that both restricts and concretises the field of scholarship. This is also the rationale behind the current issue of our quarterly, which contains papers revolving round the diversely identified and differently conceptualised relations between culture, the axiomatic system, and the legal system. Culture-specific contexts that the law and jurisprudence are grounded in, multi-faceted cultural influences - including rules, regulations and other values, manifest themselves most visibly in the official political and legal system of any given community. Such relationships serve as the analytical focus of two articles included in the current issue of the quarterly: Arystotelesa poszukiwnia idealnego ustroju państwowego (Aristotle’s Quest for an Ideal Political System) oraz Ubi societas, ibi ius: ideały a rzeczywistość (Ubi societas, ibi ius: ideals and reality). The author of the paper entitled Wpływ przyspieszenia czasu na prawo. Prawo i kultura prawna w erze informacji (The Influence of the Accelerated Pace of Life on Law. Law and Legal Culture in the Information Age) explains the consequences of the present-day cultural velocity in the context of legislation and legal praxis. One of these repercussions is the inflation of the law. Concentrating on corporate social responsibility, the author of the article Wpływ społecznej odpowiedzialności biznesu na działalność kancelarii prawnych (Impact of Corporate Social Responsibility on Business Law Firms) aspires to establish the size and factuality of the said influence in the context of the Polish and European socio-cultural reality. The paper treats of the thorny issue of finding an equilibrium between diverse standards applicable to modern entrepreneurial activities, focusing in particular on benchmarks set for law firms. Zachowania seksualne młodzieży w kontekście wyzwań współczesności (Sexual Behaviour of Young People in the Context of Contemporary Challenges) offers case studies of sexual offences associated with the young demographic, such as sexting, cyberbullying, cyberstalking, as well as postulates the need to undertake coordinated, simultaneous reforms as far as a wide range of cultural domains is concerned, i.e. the law, education, and socialisation. The last paper, entitled Wolny Internet, wolna kultura (Free Internet, Free Culture), is yet another voice added to the current debate on the legal aspects of intellectual activity in the times of the dissemination of digital technologies and the digitisation of culture.
