Summary/Abstract: Literary texts are sometimes born at the intersection of several other texts, which they rewrite or play with, which they distance themselves from, which they expose, lay claim to, or are simply indebted to. The plays of Marie Redonnet, contemporary French writer (best) known for her novels, are very good illustrations of this notion. Without relinquishing completely the discourse and techniques of her literary models (a prominent one being Beckett), and while putting to good use her perfect mastery of minimalist literary devices, Marie Redonnet goes beyond mere pastiche – indeed, there is nothing simple about her pastiche, as the web of intertextuality is complex and sometimes hard to decipher – and goes on to turn them into a work entirely of her own. Little known and even less studied, the plays she published in the ’90s at Éditions de Minuit – Tir & Lir (1988), Mobie-Diq (1989), Seaside (1992) – reveal a writer who is by no means minor, but worthy of reading over and over again.
