Summary/Abstract: This article tries to give a synthetic and sympathetic view on the Odin Teatret. The great innovation introduced by Eugenio Barba and his team in the story of theatrical forms is the building of a living theatre (the Third Theatre), which combines life and art. This kind of theatre is based on the freedom of the actor inside a group, but also on various modes of interaction and of collaboration. In order to describe the group dynamics in the Odin Teatret, the concept of vicinity is introduced here: vicinity of the actors during the exercises and the performances, vicinity with the spectators and links of the theatrical act with the global pulsations of humanity.
