Summary/Abstract: In accordance with his strategy as a man of letters Quignard rewrote and foretold already existing history in his own manner. Great musicians, the protagonists of his tales, actually existed. I am amplifying an old legend. I read it in a note written to Tchang Fou Jouei, that can be found at page 432 of the second volume of the “Mandarin’s Chronicle”. The French translation of the book written by Wou King-tseu was published in 1976. I embroider dreams and reflections around the legend of Po Ya. I am inventing the dialogues, the souvenirs. But the final scene is the one in the legend.
