Summary/Abstract: The human history witnessed so many disasters like earthquakes, flood and fire. Drought and famine are among these disasters. In this study, the drought of 1891-1893 experienced in Eastern Anatolia and Eastern Black Sea was evaluated. Social and economical aspects of the drought, which continued in some places so long as two years, were displayed in the light of archival sources. Difficulties experienced by people of the regions, aids of the state and reflection of the subject in Western press were considered in this study.
