Summary/Abstract: This article points out the way older historical and literary research into Renaissance humanism was associated with the current politics of the Czech national community. The author analyses this issue based on the example of historical imaginings associated with vernacular humanistic literature after 1800 and within the framework of Jungmann's narrative on the history of the Czech language and literature. She also focuses on scholarly discussions from the end of the 19th century, in which Latin humanist scholarship and literature were represented as a unique form of cultural transfer.
