Summary/Abstract: The article summarizes the first description of the folklore holiday cycle at the village of Skomlya, Northwestern Bulgaria. The description takes into account the impact of the intense social changes in Bulgaria in the second half of the 20th c. It is the first part of a study drawing a parallel between the changes in folklore and local dialect.
