Summary/Abstract: Procedural approach of risk management highlights the succession of steps needed to identify, evaluate and control the risk. Commanders at all levels must identify and plan risks response measures within an integrated process. Success in mission fulfillment requires monitoring, but also assuming some risks of multiple nature, activities with high degree of subjectivity for decision-makers within the organization. Agreeing by definition that risk is an undesirable event that may lead to decreased efficiency in action or to its compromising, we, automatically, include, to planning and execution the uncertainty of achieving assumed goals. Uncertainty is generated by the probability of occurrence of an event, by the effects of this event or by the commander’s processing capacity, determination and the quality of assuming the consequences associated to an event. It’s obvious that the attitude towards risk within the organization is related to identifying possibilities of risk factors and the hierarchy of their consequences, to the way the consequences are appreciated, and to their influence upon mission achievement.
