Summary/Abstract: Lord fim has had numerous interpretations for over 100 years. One of the earliest was genetic interpretation. After meticulous and extensive research carried out until the seventies of the 20th century, it was criticized as not scholarly enough. However, the latest critical editions of Lord fim bring back the works which indicate the novel' s complex sources. The article attempts to outline how this type of interpretation has evolved from naive searching for reflections of real events in literary fiction to wide displays of personal, topographic and situational conditions.
