Summary/Abstract: The article describes the means of an artistic expression used on the level of particular elements of a music work, a special emphasis being given to the harmonic and melodic patterns, having a substantial influence on the expression of work. The author systematizes important phenomena, defining the role they play in building emotional pressure in the course of composition as well as points to the role they have in creating an artistic expression of work in its most diversified variants. Also, the author underlines a great significance of mutual influences and relations taking place between the creator (composer), interpreter (performer) and receiver (listener) whose integral participation in the process of creating and perceiving a music work fully decides on its existence.
