Summary/Abstract: The long duration of the communist generated major changes in Romanian society. It was impose a prototype of the family which had on base the idea of a traditional family, but we must add the fact that for the policy of the regim every family should have a large number of children. „Family universe” is an idea that has characterized the demographic policy implemented by the unique party. That’s why it was emphasized the „superiority” of the communist family, considered „basic cell of the society”. The communist regime has been troubling by the pronatalist measures and prohibition of abortion, but attention was paid to preserve family unity. Therefore, the emergence of a militant state that rely on intensive propaganda: renunciation of celibacy, family welfare, understanding torque, achieving a lifelong marriage, conception as a symbol of duty toward family. What we have to mention is that all these initiatives were being implemented by force and control. The communist state has always tried to justify its policy on Roumanian population and family tradition. Following indications from the center, media hiding behind security impact, the real purpose of the scheme, was implementing a pronatalist policies. Pronatalist policy was a harsh reality which had repercussions on all aspects of family life, many of them negative and even leaving traces that over time could not be removed or dimmed.
