FATE OF IMAMS IN THE LAST WAR

Summary/Abstract: This text deals with the fate of imams, graduates from medresa high school, and those of the Faculty of Islamic Studies and their teachers, who were the victims of the aggressions on BiH. Author believes that this topic should be discussed more frequently so that the importance of the role of imams during the aggression on BiH should be remembered and appreciated. As the most affected population in the misfortunes of their people, Bosniaks, imams of the Islamic community of BiH never thought of leaving their country and their people, their jamaat. On the contrary, they undertook an enormous responsibility of encouraging their people by setting the examples of endurance and courage, thus showing that to resist the evil is the only way to respond to aggression that took place in BiH from the year 1992 to 1995. Such examples and messages had a strength to mobilize Bosniak people which resulted in even greater furry of aggressors against the imams. Their role was enormous not only in defending the borders of Bosnia, but also in defending the life and honor of their people. For those who survived under their protection, reminder of the role of imams during the aggression is very important, the message that the sacrifice is an essential weapon in our struggle for Islam, freedom, peace, good, brighter future and our identity, should be remembered for these are the values for which imams shahids gave their lives.
