Summary/Abstract: The objective of the paper is to juxtapose the long term vision of growth for Poland which is based on the goal of joining the Eurozone and the financial crisis in the Euroland. The convergence to the Eurozone has been confronted with the costs of contributing to the Troika’s rescue operations and the European Stability Fund as well as the potential risk of undermining its sovereign decision making powers. The financial turmoil of the GIIPS countries has been pointed out. Certain risks resulting from the Eurozone vulnerability have been indicated. Some repercussions from the Cyprus crisis have been identified. Partial incompatibility of the present long term vision of growth for Poland with the convergence criteria has been pointed out. Recommendations to revise the criteria to enter the Eurozone as well as to revise or readjust the long term objectives for Poland have been listed.
