Summary/Abstract: The end of the Cold War drastically changed the global agenda. The bipolar conflict defined by the two superpowers, had been replaced with a multitude of complex problems: the desintegration and divisition of states, civil wars, terrorism, the democratic transitions, national minorities, humanitarian interventions, ethnic cleansing, mass migration, the refugee problem, the environmental security and so on. As far as terrorism is concerned – researched in this paper through the myopic lenses of 9/11 and the proclamation of the “war on terror” – the poststructuralist theory has shown what are the risks of using and invoking an anachronic language in crisis situations. In the following paper, we aim to analyse the impact of contemporaneous terrorism on the international security environment from a poststructuralist perspective and through discourse analysis.
