The subject criterion in the identification of verbs uninflected for person

Summary/Abstract: The paper discusses the problem of identification of a special type of modern Polish verbs that do not inflect for person. In the literature, they are known as czasowniki niewłaściwe, literally ‘improper verbs’, but the descriptions of their various interpretations lead to the conclusion that they can be no longer equated with verbs uninflected for person. The author proposes that the criterion of syntactic position of the subject can be used in their identification.
