Summary/Abstract: Th e Western Europe at the moment, 15 years aft er the end of bipolar world order, is going through the trust crises. The fear of the loss of identity serves as an explanation not just for the ant European mood, but as a code for the collective subjectivity which covers the fear of the loss of the rule of the individual under the condition of structural change of the Western societies, as well. Social studies have during the past 30 years contributed to firm the categories like “identity” and not to criticize their use and benefit. In the meantime the traditional notion of honor seem to be getting old. Th e legitimate potential of one category like identity has shown itself during the academic, group debates, during the 70-ies. Th is may have to do with the German conception of culture, which says “the leading culture”. Th is very model of culture did not have its shape in classics or idealism, but in the 19th century, when the citizens did no longer believe in the progress of manhood and when the aggressive German culture was opposed to the western civilization.
