Summary/Abstract: This paper describes the elements of international legal assistance in criminal matters in relations between states. As the title suggests, the focus is on extraditions. The paper presents the notion of extradition in light of contemporary international law, starting from provisions of the 1957 European Extradition Convention. As for domestic legislation, the paper offers an analysis of provisions on extradition contained in the BiH Law on International Legal Assistance in Criminals Matters, and in terms of law on contracts, it gives a critical overview of bilateral agreements between Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Republic of Croatia, the Republic of Serbia and the Republic of Montenegro respectively, particularly in relation to two types of bilateral agreements: agreements on international legal assistance in criminal matters and agreements on enforcement of criminal sanctions. In order to overcome the shortcomings of a traditional extradition system, which is indeed complex, the author offers a solution through incorporation of the European Arrest Warrant into the legal system of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
