Noun Phrases with the Meaning of “Means” in Bosnian

Summary/Abstract: This paper is about noun phrases in the Bosnian language which have the meaning of “means”. Namely, it deals with incongruous noun phrases where the dependent article appears as the genitive case with the prepositions of, from, under, behind, across, without, out, outside, apart from, through, with. Since the genitive case without the prepositions is very rare, such instances occur as the accusative case with the prepositions through, down, by, in, on, over, under, as the instrumental case with the prepositions under and with and without the prepositions, and as the locative case with the prepositions in, on and over. Finally, the adverb with the function of the attributive with a modal meaning (means) can appear as a dependent article. All the above mentioned structures are marked with specific shades of meaning, hence the purpose of this paper is to offer their morphological, syntactic and semantic comparisons.
