Summary/Abstract: This article concentrates on the Wizard of Oz (WOz) experiment. This method has been extensively applied worldwide and its objective (before the completion of a dialogue system, DS) is to collect dialogues, which reflect people’s language use in human-computer interaction. The test participants (users) thought they were interacting with the DS Aivo, but were actually interacting with an experimenter (WOz) via Internet. After the experiments, the users were asked for permission to use these dialogues in a research study. There are 75 WOz dialogues under investigation in this paper. DS Aivo provided information about cinema schedules, weather forecasts, TV programs, flight schedules, and politics.
